8 mgd WTP Upgrade

Staunton, VA

The $3.5 million Staunton Water Treatment Plant Upgrade project is for the modernization and upgrade of this 8 mgd WTP. The project includes including a full range of inspection services for the modernization and upgrade of the city's 8 mgd water treatment plant. The project includes upgrades to most of the facility's unit processes including replacement of gaseous chlorine disinfection system with sodium hypochlorite, structural repair and new sludge collection mechanisms in sedimentation basins, reconstruction of all eight filter cells with new air/water underdrains and new media (sand and anthracite), filter gallery piping upgrades, structural repairs to existing clearwell including new cover and internal baffles, upgrades to laboratory, new plant-wide PLC-based instrumentation and control system and various other modifications.
