KNSG Wastewater Treatment Facility

Stevensville, MD

ARCADIS is is serving as the Value Engineer, Program Construction Manager for the BNR/ENR upgrade and expansion of the Kent Narrows/Stevensville/Grasonville Wastewater Treatment Facility. The Plant discharges directly into the biologically sensitive Chesapeake Bay with treatment goals harmonious with those of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Agreement. The project involves the replacement of an existing rotating biological contactor and wetlands treatment system to a state-of-the-art Enhanced Nutrient Removal facility (ENR).

The value engineering study and constructibility review resulted in 138 design suggestions and 25 cost savings recommendations including individual cost estimates. The county has successfully rebid the general construction. The bottom line was a cost saving approaching $4.7 million to the county as the construction phase starts.

ARCADIS will continue to lead the program by providing construction management, site administration, inspection, partnering, scheduling, cost estimating, document control, claims mitigation and management, and coordination project start-up and close-out services.
