Henry County WSA Interceptor Surveys and GPS

ARCADIS was hired to create a database of topological information along the following creeks in certain drainage basins.
Walnut Creek
Big Cotton Indian Creek
Little Cotton Indian Creek
Bear Creek
North Indian Creek
Bethlehem Bottoms Creek

These total approximately 275,000 lineal feet. The survey is a corridor from the top of bank to 50 to 75 feet uphill of the creek, locating the creek centerline periodically.

This information is used to design and build wastewater infrastructure for Henry County, a fast-growing county in metropolitan Atlanta. The survey departments of both the Atlanta office and Stockbridge office (Henry County) is involved in gathering the information and the water and waste management division of the Atlanta office is doing the design. In addition, the environmental division of ARCADIS located any wetlands along the proposed route.

The survey department was charged with determining route suitability, gathering the topographic information (involving both conventional surveying and GPS location), notifying landowners of the project, and creating easement plats. ARCADIS employed a utility location service to identify underground utilities where appropriate, usually at road crossings. We maintain a close liaison with the county's officials in matters of the landowner's concerns and keep a database of complaints and inquiries.
