Aerospace Company Environmental Assessments

ARCADIS mobilized 25 senior experts within only 3 weeks of project startup to perform environmental due diligence assessments of over 50 aerospace properties in eight states in support of an asset acquisition. As a result of the assessment, ARCADIS identified $50 million in potential environmental liabilities associated with the properties.

ARCADIS mobilized five teams of senior experts to perform the environmental due diligence assessments. Each team was composed of a specialist in the areas of wastewater engineering, air quality, Resource Conservation and Recover Act (RCRA), Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), and asbestos. The ARCADIS teams identified potential onsite environmental impacts, conducted environmental sampling, identified environmental noncompliance issues associated with onsite environmental operations and offsite disposal, and estimated probable costs associated with onsite environmental remediation, capital improvements required to maintain compliance with current and pending regulatory requirements, as well as potential costs associated with offsite liabilities.

Within only 4 weeks of receiving the job, the ARCADIS assessment teams had completed the initial environmental due diligence assessments.  Initial assessment tasks included a thorough review of historical records, current site operations and regulatory status, as well as site inspections to identify potential environmental impacts, non-compliance issues, and capital improvements necessary to maintain compliance with existing and pending regulations.  The firm initiated a subsequent phase of environmental sampling to further evaluate the liability associated with potential on-site environmental impacts.  Within 9 weeks of receiving the job, the environmental sampling was complete, and the results of the assessments had been translated to costs associated with the known and potential liabilities identified at the sites.  The results of the environmental assessments were conveyed to corporate management in formal presentations during the course of the project.
