Client Recognizes Efforts of 22 ARCADIANs
 ARCADIS U.S. received high honors at the CSXT Public Safety Health & Environment Conference held recently in Atlanta. The conference provided CSX workers and contractors with training in best safety practices, ethical conduct and teamwork.
"We are proud of the successful projects we’ve accomplished with CSX over the 18 plus years we’ve worked with them," said Joe Maddalena, principal-in-charge for ARCADIS client CSX. "We work tirelessly to make sure CSX has all of the resources they need and that our work is completed with the safety of our staff, the community and our clients first and foremost, and being recognized for our efforts is a great honor."

- Six staff members from around the U.S. and one team based in Tampa were honored with 2012 Outstanding Achievement Awards. Their roles range from project scientists to staff geologists, to health and safety professionals.
- Another team, made up of 11 staff members, received the 2012 Award of Excellence.
- Two project managers were awarded the 2012 Conrail Special Recognition Award.

Young ARCADIS Engineer Recognized for Achievements Both In and Out of the Office in 2012
 Erin Curtis, a project transportation engineer for ARCADIS in Akron, Ohio, was recently awarded the 2012 Paul L. Busch Prize, an honor bestowed upon an ARCADIS staff member who has demonstrated a commitment to making significant professional contributions to the firm early in their careers.
Erin works closely with her clients to support their goals and ensure environment compliance for a number of projects. Outside of work, she has served as an active member of youth organizations, is the former president of the Akron-Canton Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and more. With the University of Akron’s chapter of Engineers Without Borders, Erin traveled to Guarizama, Hondouras to build a water filtration system and to Liberia to dig a well and refurbish the local school.
Gary Johnson, executive vice president at ARCADIS U.S., said, “Erin understands that our world, our profession, our company, our offices are better places because of the people who ‘show up.’ Erin does more than show up … she also leads … both directly and by example.”

ARCADIS’ Water Management Expertise & Superstorm Sandy
Superstorm Sandy made landfall on Monday, Oct. 29 and wreaked havoc up and down the East Coast, with major impacts to New Jersey and the New York metropolitan areas.
ARCADIS spoke to many media outlets about our expertise in water management, particularly in relation to a proposed storm surge barrier concept for New York City from 2009.

John Vogan, Canadian operations manager for ARCADIS, one of the world's leading water consulting firms, agrees that the Grand River Watershed laboratory is SOWC's key attraction. "Site access for testing is one of the biggest challenges facing water research pioneers anywhere," he says. As a result, products tested in Ontario should get to market quicker and more efficiently.
