The Port of Oakland hired Red Oak Consulting, an environmental engineering consulting firm and subsidiary of Malcolm Pirnie, to strengthen the organization’s leadership, enable more effective board governance, improve work processes and develop a road map for continuous improvement.

The consulting team conducted interviews to uncover needs and priorities for the business. They began by running a retreat for the executive director and board members to foster board and management alignment, clarity of purpose and commitment to the port’s goals. Next, the consulting team led workshops to guide senior leadership through a strategic planning process to develop performance measures to support their strategic business plan.

Red Oak Consulting will continue to help identify opportunities for improvement and develop performance measures throughout the implementation process.
