Nyer, senior vice president with ARCADIS, an international environmental engineering and consultancy firm, is responsible for maintaining and expanding technical expertise in geology, hydrogeology, engineering, fate and transport, and remediation technologies. Having strategized and designed over 400 groundwater and soil remediation projects throughout the United States, authored five books, lectured, and provided expert testimony, Nyer is considered an expert in his field.
For the past 20 years, Nyer's column, Treatment Technology, has appeared in Groundwater Monitoring and Remediation magazine, currently in its 26th year of publication. Known for his light and amusing writing style, Nyer's ability to transform technical material into easy reading has contributed to the popularity of his column and the establishment of the magazine as "a standard in the remediation community," wrote Thad Plumley, NGWA Director of Publications, in the Spring 2006 issue.
