Denver, Colo. – Sept. 19, 2007 - ARCADIS (EURONEXT: ARCAD), the international consulting and engineering company, today announced that the Georgia Department of Transportation has selected the ARCADIS/C.W. Matthews Contracting, Inc. team to design and build a new interchange on I-85 near milepost 6, as well as approximately 5 miles of new frontage and access roads, two new bridges, road improvements, and new traffic signals at a number of locations.
The West Point I-85 Interchange project is necessary to accommodate the additional traffic needs expected to result from the construction of the KIA Motors manufacturing facility and training center on I-85 and to improve access to I-85 from rural West Georgia communities. The $80 million project is scheduled for completion by December 2008.
“We are pleased to have the opportunity to expand our services to the Georgia DOT with this important project,” stated Frank Danchetz, ARCADIS principal in charge. “By implementing a design-build approach, we can reduce construction time on this project by 40 percent, significantly reduce cost, and minimize impacts to the environment without compromising quality or safety.”
