Denver, Colo. – October 25, 2007 - ARCADIS (EURONEXT: ARCAD), the international consulting and engineering company, today announced that ARCADIS Executive Vice President Robert D. Stevens, PhD has been elected to a three-year term on the board of directors of the American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA). The ARTBA is a federation whose primary goal is to aggressively grow and protect transportation infrastructure investment to meet the public and business demand for safe and efficient travel. It represents the transportation design and construction industry, which generates more than $200 billion in U.S. economic activity annually and employs 2.5 million Americans.
Dr. Stevens has more than 40 years of experience in the management of large civil engineering projects and operations, turnarounds of engineering organizations, development of new business, preparation of bids and financing packages, liaison with governmental officials and clients, and the startup of new engineering operations in the U.S. and abroad. He has been responsible for the financial health, strategic plans, business development, customer satisfaction, and quality of work related to planning, design and construction oversight of transportation and water projects with a constructed value of more than $30 billion.
Dr. Stevens received doctoral and master’s degrees in civil engineering from the University of Michigan, an MCP in city planning and a Traffic Engineering Certificate from Yale University, and bachelor’s degrees in civil engineering and math from the University of Akron. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in nine states and a Certified Planner with the American Institute of Certified Planners. He has prepared designs and has overseen the construction of highway, bridge, rail, transit and port projects throughout the U.S. and in more than 10 foreign countries.
