DENVER, CO, Dec. 22, 2009 – ARCADIS (EURONEXT: ARCAD), an international consulting and engineering company, today announced that it has been awarded a $1.15 million contract by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) to provide key engineering and integration services for the Lafayette Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Traffic Incident Management (TIM) project. The project supports LADOTD initiatives to use electronic technology in detecting, managing and responding to traffic incidents along several heavily traveled highways in the Lafayette area and Atchafalaya Basin.
ARCADIS will serve as both engineer and electronics integrator for the project. As integrator, ARCDIS will support the development of fiber optic and wireless communications as well as closed-circuit TV (CCTV) cameras, radar detectors, traffic messaging signs and highway advisory radios on Interstates 10 and 49 as well as U.S. Highways 90 and 190 between Baton Rouge and Lafayette, Louisiana.
ARCADIS will provide also provide the design services for intelligent transportation systems, electrical engineering, and civil and structural engineering. ARCADIS will also purchase, install and integrate electronic systems associated with wireless broadband communications, specialized Ethernet communication devices, and digital video encoders for CCTV.
