Jacksonville, Fla. – Oct. 4, 2007 - ARCADIS (EURONEXT: ARCAD), the international consulting and engineering company, today announced ARCADIS was recently selected as the prime engineering consultant for reconstruction of pavement for six miles of Interstate 95 through Jacksonville, Florida.

ARCADIS was awarded the contract from the State of Florida, Department of Transportation, District Two, Duval County. The scope of the contract is to identify and propose improvements to the existing infrastructure. The work involves creating a detailed field survey summarizing the roadway damage and identifying deficient concrete slabs. Combined with  two other segments of pavement rehabilitation and an overland bridge, ARCADIS is now involved in rehabilitating over 13 miles of the I-95 corridor approaching downtown Jacksonville from the south. Construction costs for the corridor are expected to top $150 million.

“ARCADIS is committed to make sure that the deteriorating I-95 corridor will become a thing of the past. To mitigate traffic problems we will be using a comprehensive approach to fighting congestion along the I-95 route during construction,” said Gene Howerton, Vice President.

Team members have placed a major emphasis on safety, as the field work entails weeks of damage analysis in close proximity to a high-speed freeway accommodating over 140,000 vehicles per day.  Elements of work include roadways, sign structures, surveys, utility relocation, and maintenance of traffic, cost estimates, quantity computation books, and all necessary incidental items for a complete project.
